THE NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE CADASTRE OF BENIN
On 15 and 16 July 2021, the Technical Supervisory Committee for the Realisation of the National Cadastre organised a national workshop. Representatives of all actors in the land sector participated.
The opening of the workshop by the Director-General of ANDF (the National Land and Property Agency, left), the representative of the President of the Technical Supervisory Committee for the Implementation of the National Cadastre CTSRCN, (centre) and the representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
During the plenary session of the first day, two presentations were made by representatives of ANDF and the PMAF project:
- National Cadastre - Progress and Prospects;
- The national cadastre: tools and methods of realisation in the digital era.
Participants took the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas. The exchanges allowed participants to have a better understanding of the procedures for collecting and updating data, the roles of the actors, and the possibilities of collaboration with ANDF for the integration of data being collected by other projects or programs.
Participants then broke into three groups to discuss the following three topics:
- Roles and responsibilities of the actors in the land chain in the establishment of the national cadastre
- Procedures for collecting and updating cadastral data
- Synergy of action and sharing of cadastral data: actors, perspectives and challenges
The subgroups made several recommendations for the implementation of the national cadastre. The recommendations were directed to CTSRCN and ANDF, as well as to the municipalities and their umbrella organisation ANCB, and to the national topographical service IGN.
During the closing session, ANDF’s vice-director-general, the representative of the Dutch Embassy and the representative of the CTSRCN thanked all participants for their important contributions. They emphasised the willingness and need for collaboration of all land tenure stakeholders in the establishment of the national cadastre.
With funding from the Dutch Embassy, the PMAF project is providing support to ANDF for the implementation of the national cadastre. PMAF also contributed to the realisation of this workshop.
