Training of local Civil Society Organisations on the national cadastre

As part of its mission on the Land Administration Modernisation Project (PMAF), Synergie Paysanne (SYNPA) trained representatives (Executive Directors, Community Animators/Facilitators) of local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on 21 December 2020. The subject of the training was the implementation of the national cadastre and in particular the position of vulnerable groups (women, youth, etc) in this process.

This workshop was held at the Hotel la Canadienne in Bohicon and brought together CSOs active in social mobilisation and gender issues in the Passagon district (municipality of Bohicon) where cadastral data collection operations are currently underway.

The objective of this workshop is to provide CSOs with tools on the process of carrying out the cadastre and on their role in effectively taking into account vulnerable groups during data collection and registration operations. This objective was achieved through presentations, exchanges and syntheses on the cadastre, its institutionalisation in Benin, its scope, its usefulness, the phases of its implementation, its actors and their roles and also on the need to take into account young people and women. At the end of this workshop, the next steps expected from CSOs were defined. Their main tasks will be raising awareness among the population and identifying the difficulties/bottlenecks related to the registration of land rights for vulnerable groups.

The workshop took place in compliance COVID19 regulations.
